01 — THE DESIGN
RAF-1948 draws from the post-war British military pilot-watch tradition, where bold Arabic numerals, luminous hands and clear minute tracks were designed for immediate readability. PHG reinterprets this aviation design language in a compact 36mm case, combining vintage character with modern materials and everyday reliability.
04 — THE MOVEMENT
Powered by the Seiko VH31 mecha-quartz (Central Seconds) — sweeping seconds hand at 4 beats per second, quartz accuracy (±20 sec/year), no ticking, no winding.

316L stainless steel, 36mm diameter, fully brushed finish. Box-style K1 or sapphire crystal with double-sided coating — anti-reflective on the inside, scratch-resistant on the outside. Push-pull crown, 50m water resistance.

Matte black with white printed Arabic numerals. C3 Super-LumiNova on hands and indices.
06 — THE STRAP
18mm black NATO, Olive NATO, or brown leather strap with brushed stainless hardware.
About the Crazy Horse Leather Strap
If you’ve selected the leather strap version, your strap is made of crazy horse leather — a material prized for its rugged, vintage character.
Crazy horse leather (also called pull-up or oil-tanned leather) is full-grain cowhide with a waxed finish. It naturally develops light scuffs with use — this is the signature pull-up effect, a feature of the material, not a defect.
Scratches are easy to restore: gently rub with a fingertip or a barely damp cloth, and the mark will fade back into the leather. Over time, the strap develops a unique patina all its own.
Care: avoid alcohol-based cleaners; a dry cloth wipe is all it needs.

The overall reproduction quality is good, the dial markings are faithful to the original and it keeps accurate time. I’m not used to the NATO strap it comes with, so I plan to swap it for a leather one – I think that will look even better.

The watch is reasonably priced and does everything I need – good value for the money.

The small number font and bubble glass are beautiful. I also liked the beautiful needle and the soft light on the edges. The lume is not as bright as the light-green C3 and has a slightly yellowish tint, but the colour atmosphere is nice. Unfortunately the luminous indicator at the 9 o\’clock position is a bit dim. The colours don\’t come out well in photos: the hands and the luminescent painted index look slightly orange and faded, which isn\’t bad, but it feels a bit odd since the watch itself is beautiful. I think it would be better if it was a bit more yellow. I was hesitant because it\’s quartz, but it\’s really good, so I recommend it.

Fits my 17cm wrist perfectly and the nylon strap is long enough. I also put it on an 18mm black leather strap of my own and it gives it a completely different feel. The sapphire crystal should hold up better over time as well. Looking forward to seeing how the other strap looks on it.
