Description

01 — THE DESIGN

Inspired by the German WWII B-Uhr observation watch and its unmistakable pilot-watch design language.

Developed for military aviation, the B-Uhr established a visual system built around immediate cockpit readability: a highly legible dial, oversized hands, strong contrast, and disciplined geometry. Its influence remains one of the defining chapters in the history of the pilot watch.

FL-883 takes this functional language as its starting point and reinterprets it in a compact 36mm case. The proportions, dial indices, and hands are refined for a smaller contemporary footprint, bringing the unmistakable character of the classic observation watch to a size suited to everyday wear.

The result is a compact pilot watch that preserves the visual discipline of its aviation inspiration without reproducing a historical reference.

02 — THE DIAL

A highly legible dial built around the essential B-Uhr design principles.

Strong contrast, clear indices, and purposeful hand proportions create an immediate reading hierarchy, while the refined layout gives the dial a cleaner contemporary presence.

The design keeps the focus where it belongs: on time, clearly displayed.

03 — THE CASE

36mm brushed 316L stainless steel case.

The compact footprint is deliberately smaller than the oversized B-Uhr watches originally designed for maximum visibility in the cockpit and over flying equipment.

A restrained brushed finish reinforces the practical character of the design while making FL-883 more versatile for everyday wear.

04 — THE MOVEMENT

Seiko TMI VH31 sweep-second movement.

A quartz movement with a fluid sweep-second hand, providing smoother visual motion than the conventional one-tick-per-second appearance of standard quartz movements.

Reliable, practical, and straightforward — in keeping with the functional character of FL-883.

05 — THE CRYSTAL

Box-style coated K1 crystal.

The raised profile adds depth to the dial and recalls the characteristic form of vintage pilot-watch crystals. The coating helps reduce reflections and improves viewing clarity in changing light.

06 — THE STRAP

18mm black NATO, Olive NATO, or brown leather strap with brushed stainless hardware, matched to the compact 36mm case.

The utilitarian strap reinforces the aviation character of FL-883 while keeping the overall configuration simple, functional, and comfortable on the wrist.

About the Crazy Horse Leather Strap

If you’ve selected the leather strap version, your strap is made of crazy horse leather — a material prized for its rugged, vintage character.

Crazy horse leather (also called pull-up or oil-tanned leather) is full-grain cowhide with a waxed finish. It naturally develops light scuffs with use — this is the signature pull-up effect, a feature of the material, not a defect.

Scratches are easy to restore: gently rub with a fingertip or a barely damp cloth, and the mark will fade back into the leather. Over time, the strap develops a unique patina all its own.

Care: avoid alcohol-based cleaners; a dry cloth wipe is all it needs.
