Description

01 — THE DESIGN

Inspired by the 1978 West German Bundeswehr 5100 military chronograph and its distinctive language of functional aviation instruments.

The 5100 established a distinctive design vocabulary: a compact case, highly legible dial, strong visual contrast, and a practical dual-date display. Every element served a purpose, reflecting the uncompromising logic of a military instrument rather than decoration.

FL-87 takes that functional clarity as its starting point, translating the character of Cold War-era military pilot watches into an independent contemporary design.

Its all-black configuration gives the watch a particularly restrained and purposeful character — a natural choice for those drawn to the aesthetics of vintage military instruments.

02 — THE DIAL

An all-black dial built around functional contrast.

The monochromatic configuration strips the dial down to its essential information, giving the chronograph a distinctly tactical character.

Clear markings, a disciplined layout, and luminous elements keep the information legible without introducing unnecessary visual detail.

03 — THE CASE

38.5mm case with a matte black PVD coating.

The matte PVD surface reduces reflections and gives the case a restrained, non-glossy appearance consistent with the character of a functional military instrument.

Compact proportions keep the watch purposeful on the wrist without losing the presence expected from a modern chronograph.

04 — THE MOVEMENT

Miyota 0S00 quartz chronograph movement.

A dependable chronograph movement selected for reliability, serviceability, and everyday practicality.

Dual-date display.

A distinctive feature of the 5100 design language, reinterpreted here as a practical display rather than a decorative complication.

05 — THE CRYSTAL

Box-style coated K1 crystal for enhanced legibility.

The raised profile recalls the characteristic form of vintage tool-watch crystals, while the coating helps reduce reflections across the dial.

06 — THE STRAP

20mm leather strap, matched to the all-black configuration.

The restrained leather strap complements the monochromatic case and dial, keeping the overall design purposeful and cohesive.
